Honoring Shomrei’s Core Values

heinig_fernA core value of Shomrei Emunah is Tzedakah and Tikkun Olam. We describe this on our website as: We believe we have a responsibility to “repair the world” and commit ourselves to caring for the homeless, the hungry and those in need of loving kindness in our own congregation and beyond.

Tikkun Olam begins with one person choosing to help another. Each person on the Mensch Squad has changed the life of another person in a way only the recipient can describe. Each meal a volunteers serves at MESH changes the day for our guests. Each act of kindness we show to an IHN family hopefully lifts a little of the burden they are bearing for themselves and their family.

Dale Russakoff is the model of a “volunteer”. For many years, she has led the Mensch Squad and is co-chair of the IHN program. Every community needs a Dale; someone who continuously gives of herself, but more important, inspires others to give of themselves.

We honor all our volunteers. Repairing the world takes little acts of kindness from every one of us.

To the world you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world
