We’re Back! Lampert Library is Open.

shelving8After months of anticipation and mounds of boxes waiting to be unpacked, the Lampert Library is again ready for operation.

Thanks to a hard working crew of volunteers, almost all the books were put back on the shelves in a week’s time.  There’s still some adjusting to be done but our library looks like a library again.

Here’s what it looked like as numerous volunteers- including some who were camera shy- sorted and shelved:

Aileen Grossberg, a professional librarian, is a long-time congregant and serves as volunteer librarian for Shomrei's Lampert Library. The library, one of the best-kept secrets at Shomrei is used by the Rabbi, congregants, students and teachers of the JLC (Hebrew School) and Preschool. It's a tremendous resource completely supported by your donations and gifts. Aileen also heads the Shomrei Caterers, the in-house food preparation group. Can there be any better combination…good food and good books!

  1. Bravo to Aileen for coordinating the fantastic effort to re-shelve the library books, while battling an infection during the process! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  2. Reshelving books (and taking an occasional peek inside the books) reminded me what a treasure our synagogue library is. Special thanks to Aileen for keeping the library current, accessible and well-cared for.

What do you think?
