Preschool Art Auction a Huge Success!

Shomrei Preschool art auction 2015Our 6th annual Shomrei Preschool Art Auction was a huge success! On Sunday morning, May 17th, Shomrei Preschool families, congregants, community members, and extended family enjoyed a special morning in the social hall. Individual and group masterpieces were proudly hung on the walls, and attendees enjoyed viewing the variety of art and different styles presented by the young artists.

In addition to the art, everyone enjoyed a lively bidding session on donated auction items. The donations themselves represented the generous support of the entire community.

Our auction featured local businesses (Mom N’Tot Nutrition, Miss Roseanna’s School of Dance in Bloomfield, Rebecca Keszkowski for Rodan & Fields Skin Care, the Turtle Back Zoo, and much more!). We were also proud to auction off the unique talents of Shomrei members! Fern Heinig offered a wine tasting class, Nick Levitin offered a photography session, and John Lasiter offered to bake 2 challah loaves for a lucky winner. The exclusive Yankees Tickets (with access to the Delta Suite) brought great excitement, too!

Shomrei Preschool art auction 2015 2We raised over $4,000, all of which goes directly to support the preschool. The art auction would not have been possible without the support of so many wonderful volunteers:
Thank you to Sally and Jonathan Goodgold for emceeing the event, donating products, and helping to not only dream up many aspects of the event, but coordinate its execution as well! Thank you to Aylah Winter for also helping to coordinate, set-up, and shop for the auction. Your craft basket was a huge hit too! Thank you to Danielle Bear for creating a beautiful art auction flyer! Thank you to Bridget Placek, Michelle Glasser, Lynn Vande Stouwe, Naz Singh, Lauren Rosenthal, Debra Caplan & Nick Taft, & Amy & Jason Didner for your generous contributions to our auction and helping us spread the word about this wonderful event.

Thank you also for our incredible teachers who are tasked with not only creating art with young artists, but creating art you will treasure forever! It’s not an easy task to think of new ideas every year, but they always rise to the occasion. A special thank you to Morah Barbara for helping to make our auction so happy with the addition of champagne (mimosas, oh my!). Thank you also to Morah Rachel and Morah Kathy for your set-up and clean-up help. Thank you, Morah Aileen, for shopping for our beautiful flowers! Thank you to Tal Guttman for patiently painting faces all morning. And finally, a huge shout-out to Maya and Jeremy Stepansky, Zach Marzulli, and Nathan Farrell of the Frontiers Jazz Quartet for playing such beautiful music throughout the auction. It added such a nice element to our day.

Looking forward to next year!
