Cinco de Mayo at Mesh Cafe

MESH May 5 2015Report from Captain Sarita Eisenberg:

Shomrei hosted 18 guests for dinner. In keeping with the Cinco de Mayo theme, dinner started with salsa and chips and continued with a pico de gallo salad of chopped cucumber, tomato, corn, red onion, and parsley in a lime dressing. The main course included a vegetarian chile over rice, topped with a Mexican blend of cheeses, and a side of roasted broccoli. The meal was rounded out with a fruit salad of melon, grapes, and pineapple topped with a cookie.

We ended up with an abundance of helpers tonite. Sarah Steindel and I were the designated cooks but everyone helped in the kitchen as well as serving. Our helpers included two first-timers – Montclair High School student Emma and my son, Marvin (aka Moish) Hammerman – as well as another Montclair High School student Lukas, Shomrei teens Alex and Noa, Lou Hammerman, and Sierra Wendeborn.   Lou took care of all the washing. You wouldn’t have known that anyone had used the kitchen.
