Honoring our MESH volunteers

MESH-Shomrei

There is no happiness without eating and drinking states the Babylonian Talmud. There is also no existence without eating and drinking. In a land where a sizable percentage of the population is overfed and overweight, it is astonishing that many people, including a large number of children, suffer from food insecurity.

In this rich land of ours, people must make choices between shelter and food, between medication and food, between clothing and food.

At Shomrei we have joined with other religious communities to help relieve hunger in a small way by participating in the MESH program, preparing a substantial, nutritious meal for up to 30 adults-and sometimes children- every week.

We will be honoring  our MESH volunteers  on SUNDAY, June 12 after Shavuot services. Gwen Parker-Ames, director of MESH, will speak briefly. Teen volunteers will be recognized.

The presentations will be followed by a festive holiday kiddush  lunch.  All are welcome. RSVPs would be appreciated so that we know how many to prepare for.  Click here to RSVP.

There’s always room for more volunteers, especially cooks. To volunteer for MESH sign up at Shomrei.org/volunteer.
