MESH 4

From Captain Captain Melissa Elbaum:

Last night was a success, despite a couple of last minute hiccups. We had a total of 12 guests. Some of our regulars have been working for the Salvation Army ringing bells and filling kettles.

Chef John Lasiter, assisted by Jerilyn Margulies (with some extra help from Adrienne Lasiter, Melissa Elbaum, and Aileen Grossberg), made a finger-licking 3-course meal: hummus and pita chip appetizer; paprika spiced, barbeque painted chicken legs served with roasted potatoes and carrots drizzled with oil and seasonings, purple cabbage cole slaw, and challah; and for dessert there was fruit salad and apple turnovers.

MESH 3Despite the smaller turnout, the meal was a big success and everyone had seconds (and thirds!). When John’s name was mentioned during the welcome ceremony, several guests were very happy and applauded, excited for what was to come!

MESHSusan Rosenblatt helped with a bit of food prep, cleaning dishes, and serving. Teen helpers – Matt,
Amalia, Louis, Max, Gabby, Eva, Susan, and Joephine – were all on the ball, plating, serving, clearing tables, and doing dishes. MESH staffers – Adrienne, Bonny, Mr. Wells, and Joe – were very helpful and ensured that everything went smoothly.
