From Captain Linda Ariel:

On a warm spring evening, the MESH Cafe at Shomrei welcomed twenty-four guests to a delicious dinner. John Lasiter, with the able support of sous chef, Adrienne Lasiter, created a meal with a palate of flavors that delighted the hungry group. The menu included hummus with pita chips, a colorful vegetable salad, bread and butter, sockeye salmon topped with a mustard glaze, roasted scallions, and home baked chocolate peanut butter pinwheels with ice cream.

Our diners’ positive response was conveyed by their requests for seconds. Adrienne and Joe of the MESH staff actively supported and guided our teens with our guests, and all left sated and happy at the end of the evening.

Please note the following mishap that occurred. Many thanks to Aileen Grossberg for saving the day!

The meat oven had been coated with oven cleaner and had not been appropriately washed off. When the oven was pre-heated, the kitchen filled with odors, and the menu of chicken had to be immediately changed. With the assistance of Aileen Grossberg, a sufficient amount of salmon was then purchased, and with the expertise of our chef John, the MESH Cafe came off without our guests being the wiser. The chicken that John had purchased is still in the refrigerator. The issue related to the status of the meat oven needs to be looked into.
