From Captain Lynne Kurzweil:

Last Tuesday evening, the weather was balmy and the ambiance was warm as Shomrei welcomed 24 guests to our MESH Cafe. Our guests were particularly pleased to be back after a two week hiatus for the High Holidays.

The meal began with an appetizer of tuna and egg salad on greens with crackers, courtesy of the morning Sukkot kiddush. Chef Lynne Kurzweil prepared homemade split pea soup, baked whiting fillets with a Parmesan panko crust, roasted broccoli and seasoned brown rice. Dessert was a generous fresh fruit salad with assorted cookies.

Preschool parent, Melissa Elbaum, was a superb sous chef in addition to shopping and donating all of the food for the meal. Our able teen volunteers included Amalia, Siona, Eva, Aly, Sebastian, Matt and Sam. MESH staffers Adrienne, Bonny and Joseph, as well as, MSU student, Amber, helped to ensure that the evening ran smoothly.
