MESH Report 4/23/2019

image3 (2)Report from Captain Lynne Kurzweil:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei welcomed 24 guests to our cafe this past Tuesday night, an additional 6 takeaway meals were distributed.  Word has it that 35 people had lined up prior to 6:30 pm.

Master Chef Aileen Grossberg prepared a scrumptious Passover meal for our grateful guests with the help of sous chef and Captain Lynne Kurzweil.  Following an appetizer of fresh baked matzah pizza, main course was Za’atar Salmon, potato kugel and assorted roasted vegetables with a side of cucumber salad.  Dessert was a healthy portion of fresh fruit salad and Aileen’s special homemade chocolate chocolate chip cookies (KP of course!).

Teen helpers were Amalia, Drew, Louis and Max.  MESH staff Adrienne, Bonny and Joe and an additional security guard ensured that the evening went smoothly.

Chag Sameach!

About MESH:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches.  Volunteers at each institution cook and serve hearty, nutritious meals for the hungry. Shomrei’s turn is on Tuesday nights. A good meal, and perhaps as important, social interaction and companionship offer respite to those who need it. Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering.
