Flexibility is key!
This week in our ongoing effort to engage wider participation by accommodating congregants’ availability, we had a tag team on Monday and Tuesday. Monday afternoon Lynne Kurzweil, Shirley Grill and Linda Wieseneck did the cooking and stored it for warming and packing up on Tuesday.
The meal included Panko Crusted Boneless Chicken Breasts, Fresh Roasted Seasoned Steak Fries, Cole Slaw, sub roll, banana, Oreo cookies and a water bottle. On Tuesday, under Aileen Grossberg’s guidance, the experienced team of Susan Rosenblatt and Carole Rothman packed up the 50 bags in record time. The kitchen smelled inviting, ensuring a delicious meal for our MESH guests. New volunteer Jessica Van Grover and husband, Luke, quickly packed their car and delivered still warm dinners to the MESH site, a welcome treat on a blustery fall evening.
For those interested in volunteering who are not available on Tuesday afternoons, we are brainstorming different ways to make it work. Let us know what would work for you. Next MESH day is Tuesday, November 26. Fern Heinig is organizing teens to do the prep and pack on Monday night.
Additionally, each Monday afternoon we deliver any usable food leftover from kiddish to MESH.

Volunteer at Shomrei
Shomrei provides 50 meals to MESH on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. We need volunteers to help prepare and pack the food.

Volunteers are also welcome to help serve food 6 nights a week, Monday through Saturday, 4:30-6:30 pm at the MESH site, 619 Bloomfield Ave, Montclair.
