On a chilly, rainy Tuesday night, Shomrei’s MESH cafe provided a warm welcome to 15 guests. Chefs Sarah Steindel and Sarita Eisenberg worked with captain Sarah Kravits to make it a “team of Sarahs” night. Sarah and Sarita prepared a tasty meal of a mixed multicolor salad, buttered bread, Dijon chicken breasts, potato spinach casserole, and roasted carrots and broccoli, with fruit salad, wafers, and chocolate covered pretzels for dessert. Kudos to our chefs for repurposing potatoes and spinach that were in the refrigerator. Continue reading

Passover began about one week early at the MESH Cafe at Shomrei. This past Tuesday night Chef Aileen Grossberg prepared a delicious pesadik meal since the Shomrei kitchen had already been kashered. Except for the egg and garlic matza, I’m sure it was transparent to our guests why this meal was different from all other meals. Continue reading

We welcomed a full house of 24 guests (plus two takeaway meals) to the MESH Cafe at Shomrei this past Tuesday evening. Chef Arden Epstein and Sous Chef Meredith Barrantine presented a tasty and nourishing meal that was heartily consumed by our grateful guests. Mixed nuts and raisins started the meal off followed by a kale and brussels sprout salad with poppyseed dressing and a dinner roll with butter. Roasted cod with lemon, buttered green beans and rice with Romano cheese was the delicious main course, followed by palmier pastry with fresh strawberries for dessert. Continue reading
