Hinei Mah Tov Reenergized!

Allison Fishman Task (and assistants) will Chair Hinei Mah Tov programming.

This summer, we have made two significant changes toward a new and reenergized Hinei Mah Tov (HMT) service for the coming year.

I am excited to announce that congregant Allison Fishman Task has volunteered to chair the HMT Committee and will work with me and our HMT families to continue to develop the nachas (gratification), simcha (spirit) and ruach (joy) of HMT services. Please be in touch with Allison (email hidden; JavaScript is required) if you would like to help her develop, plan or host any upcoming HMT services.

Another exciting development: this summer we hired guitarist Mitch Radler as our song leader and JLC music teacher.

Selling Hametz

breads_2If possible, all hametz – food not acceptable during Pesah (Passover), or materials containing such unacceptable food – should be destroyed or given away before the holiday begins.

Should this be impossible, the hametz may be stored in such a way that we are sure not to use it during the holiday and its actual ownership, and the ownership of the space in which it is stored, is transferred to a non-Jew until the holiday ends.

Yoga for the Jewish Spirit

yoga_masthead5Our Shabbat Yoga practice is an ideal way to pause in our often hectic lives to rest and re-center ourselves. By slowing down, we become open to experiencing our body, mind and soul as one.

All levels are welcome. No previous yoga experience is required. Please wear comfortable clothes.

Elisa Spungen Bildner, a registered yoga instructor certified by the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, will lead our yoga sessions.

Monthly Healing Service

hands_600Shomrei holds a Healing Service on the last Monday evening of every month. This service combines traditional and non-traditional elements of prayer, mindfulness, song, story, discussion and silence for those in our community who are coping with physical, emotional and spiritual health issues and for those who are in caring relationships with people who are in that situation.

Please tell your friends and neighbors.

Avodah SheBalev – Service of the Heart

Avodah SheBalev - Service of the HeartThis monthly alternative service led by Rabbi Greenstein allows for variety and experimentation as it emphasizes the spiritual essence of Shabbat prayers with a different focus each month. Largely in English, Avodah SheBalev offers the opportunity to reconnect with Jewish practice in a more easily accessible format.
