Caring for each other

Sara Ann ErichsonDear Friends,

As Shabbat is soon upon us, I am reaching out to say “hi” and to let you know that the Shomrei leadership and staff continue to be focused on meeting the emotional and physical needs of our community during this difficult and unprecedented time. I hope this note finds you healthy and staying safe.

Many of you have reached out asking if there is anything you can do for our community. I am writing with two opportunities:

  • We are trying to stay in contact with every member of the Shomrei community by placing “check in” calls every week or two. If you find that you have time on your hands, we would love to have more people join us in making these telephone calls. Just email John Lasiter at email hidden; JavaScript is required and he will send you instructions on how you can get involved.
  • As this period of isolation is extended, it’s critically important that we are there for our members who are most vulnerable.  We are looking to expand our Mensch Squad with young and healthy volunteers who can be available to assist members of our community in a safe, distanced way.  If this is something you would like to do, contact Dale Russakoff at email hidden; JavaScript is required.

In addition, if anyone has ideas for sustaining our community during this time — through programming or anything else — please don’t hesitate to write or call me or Rabbi Greenstein.

Please take care of yourself and your family.

Shabbat Shalom.
