Meet Lily Lucey, New Assistant Education Director

Lily LuceyFor the past twelve years, Lily has worked at Congregation Beth Shalom in Clearwater, Florida. She served as B’nai Mitzvah Teacher & Coordinator, prayer and song leader, cantorial soloist at synagogue and community events, religious school music teacher, and was often involved with synagogue and holiday programming. She is passionate about teaching Torah and Haftarah trope and Shabbat t’filot to students and their families with the hope that they will carry these skills with them for their future participation in synagogue life. She believes strongly in the importance of establishing relationships with students and families as they find their personal relationships with the Jewish experience.

Lily has always enjoyed working with children of all ages, adults, and in inter-generational settings. Prior to the birth of her son she worked as a coordinator for the teen volunteer program at Suncoast Hospice (now a member of Empath Health), training teen and adult volunteers and providing students with the opportunity to volunteer with hospice patients.

She grew up with two parents in the arts, and a passion for arts education was instilled in her at an early age. In Florida she taught experiential Jewish music classes in a synagogue preschool. She is also a certified Music Together teacher and has taught Music Together classes for the last several years.

Her husband Keith is the Northeast U.S. Manager for Cambridge International Examinations, a division of University of Cambridge. They have one six-year-old son, Zen, who will be starting first grade in the fall.

Lily is excited for her new role as Assistant Director of the JLC and looks forward to being a part of the Shomrei community.
