We are almost at the end of the month of Elul when, according to traditional, we examine our behavior and begin the process of making amends , of returning to our best selves.
In that context, please check your home library shelves for the many books missing from our library. Some of you have received overdue notices- often several.
There have been requests from other readers for books that are long overdue and I, as librarian, have not been able to help these readers.
We do not charge fines, but every book that is not returned is a new book that cannot be purchased. With a limited budget, replacing books is a luxury.
And some books cannot be replaced for they are out-of-print.
So as you search your hearts, please search your shelves.

REMINDER: The library is open for borrowing. There are many new books available as well as great older books for readers of all ages including teens. Ah, Aileen, thank you for your delicate nudge. I am one of the slackers who has had a book out since just before the Plague struck. If I don’t finish it by Rosh Hashanah, I will return it before Yom Kippur.
