Here is our fall line-up of speakers for @nourish. Please join me for what will be an interesting series.  @nourish (“at nourish”) is Shomrei’s Shabbat seminar/discussion/activity series for adults presented by Shomrei JLC (Jewish Learning Center). Occurring monthly @nourish will bring varied and interesting speakers or activity leaders to Shomrei to engage our brains, bodies and being.

@nourish is free and open to the public.

Perfect or Good Enough: The Path to Parenting
Exploring the challenges of being a parent — carving out your own pathways. Shomrei member Linda Ariel has worked as a social worker for forty-one years; most recently as a school social worker in Millburn Public Schools with students and parents from preschool to high school, with a focus on the learning and developmental challenges faced by families and children.

Helping Syrians in Their Own Land, New Solutions 

Featuring Moti Kahana, American-Israeli businessman, philanthropist and founder of the organization Amaliah, which is working with the Israeli Defense Force and Syrian local council, toward a goal of bringing over a million Syrians back home to a designated “Safe Zone,” territory in Southern Syria on the border with Israel.

A Jewish-American Diplomat’s Experiences on Center-stage 

Featuring Alfred H. Moses (father of Shomrei Member Jennifer Moses) Co-founder and Senior Partner of Promontory Financial Group. He served as Special Advisor to President Jimmy Carter, American Ambassador to Romania in the Clinton Administration and Special Presidential Envoy for the Cyprus conflict.

Life and Career Coach (and Shomrei Member) Allison Task, MS will speak about making career and life changes that will stand the test of time. Life looks different now than when you started down your career path. Take stock of what’s important — where you’ve come from and where you are — then determine where you want to go.

Living the Immigrant Experience

Shomrei Congregant Sarvenaz Singh will speak about her family’s immigration experience. Sarvenaz was raised in Iran during the start of the Islamic Revolution. She will speak about her experience as a Jewish child living through this historic time, her family’s challenges coming to the United States and her ongoing adjustment to a western lifestyle that includes a strong Jewish identity.
