Welcome, Noa Freudberg

Freudberg_NoelWe’d like to welcome Noa Freudberg to the Shomrei community!

Noa Freudberg officially joined Shomrei this past summer after attending services and classes here for several years. Born in Paterson, NJ, she moved to New York City in the 70s and worked as a clinical social worker in several outpatient mental health programs. She also began a private psychotherapy practice and today, she continues to be self employed in that practice which is now located in Morristown NJ.

As a long time spiritual seeker, she became a member of NYC’s Congregation B’nai Jeshurun and was profoundly impacted by the spiritual environment created by its Rabbis. Noa eventually moved to Montclair which she feels is a very “cool place” and went to services at Bnai Keshet and at Beth Ahm in Verona, before discovering Shomrei Emunah.

Looking for a spiritual home, she came to a Community Seder at Shomrei and was inspired by Rabbi Greenstein’s knowledge and passion for Judaism. She felt an immediate connection, and started coming to Shomrei to daven and to attend classes. Belonging to a community and having a good Rabbi are important to her.

She describes her own spiritual journey as one in which, through Judaism she fell in love with God. Noa says that she loves to daven. She finds it a very connecting, meditative and transcendent experience. Another draw for her was Shomrei’s classes. She attends Torah Study, the Zohar class and adult Hebrew classes regularly and hopes to be able to read Torah in Hebrew someday.

Still a member at BJ, she was uncertain about joining another synagogue, but after having such a positive experience here, and having attended services and classes for several years, she just felt that joining was “the way to do it.”

We are delighted that Noa is now a member of the Shomrei family!
