We’d like to welcome Brian Sham Singh, Sarvenaz (Naz) Zelkha Singh, and Brian Samuel Singh Jr. to the Shomrei community!

Brian is an IT specialist for Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. He enjoys playing baseball, watching movies and spending time with his son.

Singh, Brian JrNaz is a NYC inner city public school teacher at East Side Community High School for 10 years. She is co-author of Authentic Assessments for The English Classroom and an adjunct teacher for New York University. Currently, she is a stay at home mom.  She enjoys doing community service, gardening and learning to cook new meals.  Naz was part of the committee that decorated the lobby for the annual meeting in May and is on the membership and education committees.

Brian Jr, aged 3½, is in his second year at the Shomrei preschool.

We joined Shomrei because we believe that a religious influence is an important factor in raising a child. We value teaching our son and participating in activities related to Tikun Olam, doing mitvahs and building community with like minded people.  I  am Jewish, while Brian is agnostic.  I feel that our home and family’s social life has greatly improved since doing Shabbat on a regular basis. Shomrei has been an extremely friendly and flexible community that allows each member of the family to interact with the concepts of Judaism in a supportive and non-judgmental manner.

The Singh family have been living in Bloomfield for the past 6 years and are hoping to start a new chapter in their lives in Verona in mid-November.

We’re delighted that Shomrei will continue to be part of that new chapter!
