From Captain Sarah Kravits:

Shomrei welcomed 20 guests for the last MESH meal of the season before we break for summer. Chefs Sarita Eisenberg and Sarah Steindel prepared a delicious meal, starting with a mixed green salad with hearts of palm and corn served with bread, a main course of honey balsamic chicken served with herbed pasta and green beans mixed with sautéed mushrooms and onions, and finally a dessert of sorbet with cookies and strawberries. When Captain Sarah Kravits announced the menu, the guests applauded — they consistently appreciate the food we serve at Shomrei!

Sarah and Sarita made good use of the green beans that Fern left from last week as well as cookies left over from kiddush.

Teen and pre-teen helpers were Teddy, Josephine, Delia, Leah, and Lauren. MESH staffers Bonny and Joe kept everything running well, with help from Nicole and Siani who accompanied Bonny today. Lou Hammerman put in a lot of work to make sure the kitchen ended up as clean as we found it.

Last night was the final MESH Cafe at Shomrei until September. We want to thank all of our wonderful volunteers who came out to help in this wonderful mitzvah. We will be in contact at the end of the summer to prepare for opening night in September. Wishing everyone a safe, restful and fun summer.
