Chef Ashley leading 3-year-olds in making apple cobbler

Tuesday’s MESH dinner was a special moment in intergenerational community involvement, from our youngest to our more mature members! The meal was lovingly prepared by our preschool students and their loving parents…place mats made by the tender 2’s, salad paid for and prepared by the 4’s (they proudly used their tzedakah money to buy the food) and our 3’s made the dessert–a wonderful apple cobbler.

The cooking was done under the direction of chef Ashley Rickart, a good friend of preschool mom , who set up the meal for us to simply reheat and serve. Kitchen supervision was provided by our own master chef, Lynne Kurzweil. And we had preschool mom, Fiona Graff, our crew of competent teens, Amalia, Teddy, Gus and Ray, MSU students Lexie and Shannon, and the MESH staffers Adrienne and Bonny for setup, serving and cleanup. Shirley Grill captained, kvelled and kibbitzed!

The menu was Mexican: a Mexican Chicken stew, homemade Guacamole, chips and vegetable Quinoa was the main, preceded by the wonderful salad and topped off with our apple cobbler for dessert. We served 24 in house and provided seconds, in addition to 5 takeaways. It was a very rewarding evening!
