Mesh Cafe Sept 27, 2016

From Captain Alex Kent:

The MESH Cafe had a full house this past Tuesday.  Chef extraordinaire Aileen Grossberg manned the kitchen, with help from several sous chefs.

The menu included a hearty vegetable bean soup prepared by Lynne Kurzweil, served with toasted garlic butter rolls, cleverly re-purposed from the Barbecue.  Next up was a kale salad with apples, cabbage, oranges and other goodies, provided by Merrill Silver.  The main course was baked panko cod, and macaroni and cheese, leftover from Saturday’s kiddush. Dessert was a full spread of fruit, cookies, and rice, tapioca, and chocolate pudding. The cookies and fruit were also courtesy of the kiddush, so a very economical meal, with many people chipping in, and making good use of leftover food!

We had a wealth of volunteers.  In addition to Lynne and Aileen, adult helpers included Shomrei members Erin Berman and Susan Rosenblatt, assisted by teens Siona, Sebastian, Eva, Sam, and Matt.  Montclair State intern Amber is beginning her service with us, and MESH staffers Bonny, Adrienne, Joseph, and Mr. Wells rounded out the crew.  The 24 guests enjoyed their meal, and we provided take-away meals for 3 additional people.
