Mesh Cafe Sept 29, 2015

MESH 2015 sept 29 - AileenReport from Captain & Cook Aileen Grossberg:

Tonight’s opening of the MESH Café at Shomrei was a great success. Despite being rained out of the sukkah, our guests felt the warmth of the holiday as Aileen Grossberg, standing in for captain Nick Levitin, welcomed the 20 guests with a very brief explanation of Sukkot and the sukkah.

The guests enjoyed a meal of hearty vegetable soup supplied by Amy Grossman, warm rolls and butter, crisp green salad with homemade Asian inspired dressing, Chinese smashed cucumber salad, roasted vegetables (cauliflower, carrots, peppers, purple onion and scallions) with a tamari and ginger glaze, baked cod marinated in teriyaki and ginger. Dessert included cookies and a mélange of cantaloupe and fresh pineapple. Our guests were also offered apples to take with them.
MESH 2015 sept 29 - CarlosHelping out this evening was old friend, MSU student Veronica, who was joined by two new interns Bonny and Thalia. Since we were a little shorthanded, we were overjoyed to have Veronica who knew the ropes and was indispensable in helping orient Bonny and Thalia to Shomrei’s Café. Carlos, sensing our need for an extra pair of hands, helped with the clean up

There was no food left over and most guests would have made it into the clean plate club. “Delicious,” “Outstanding, “ and “We love to come to Shomrei,” were some of the comments from our appreciative guests.

As one of the interns summed it up: good food, good night, no incidents.
