MESH Report Dec 14, 2021

Chef Lynne Kurzweil was on deck along with Sous Chef (and Jill of all Trades) Shirley Grill. The bags were prepped and prepared in Lynne’s kitchen and brought to Shomrei for 3:45 pm pickup by MESH Staffer, Joe Tyson. Many thanks also to Ehud Klinger who is always ready, willing and able to help out MESH volunteers.

The 20 Grab N Go meals included Panko Crumb Tilapia Filets, Corn on the Cob, Kale and Cabbage Salad with Craisins & Pepitas, a hearty chunk of French Baguette, a large banana, a water bottle and Chocolate Chip Cookies baked by Collin.

For the second week in a row MESH guests were treated to a Breakfast Bag lovingly prepared by Shomrei PreSchool students and jam packed with breakfast non perishables. The children decorated the bags and included sweet notes with good wishes.

About MESH:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches. While in-person service has been discontinued, we are providing hearty, nutritious take-out meals for the hungry. Shomrei’s turn is on Tuesday nights. Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering to help with food preparation or bagging or by making a donation at: shomrei.org/donate.
