MESH SignUp is Live -1st Meal Prep is Tuesday September 10

As the summer draws to a close, it’s time to resume Shomrei’s twice-monthly meal prep for MESH on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, September through June. During July and August, even though we did not prepare meals, we provided MESH with funding to purchase over 200 meals.

MESH, located at 619 Bloomfield Ave, Montclair, at the site of the former The Office restaurant, has greatly expanded services to our community members in need. In addition to serving Dinner and Fellowship to 50-75 people 6 nights a week and Overnight Respite Shelter during the winter months, MESH has added a Laundry and Lunch program on Saturdays, a MESH Store where guests can “shop” for new and gently used items and much more. Note about Reimbursement for Food/Supplies costs: When food or supplies are purchased to prepare MESH meals, please submit all receipts to Ehud for reimbursement whether or not you (graciously) plan to donate some or all of your expenses back to the MESH Fund. You will be reimbursed up to $300 to cover the cost of 50 meals. In turn, you can donate as much back to the MESH Fund as you desire. We know it’s awkward but these are necessary steps as we need to have an accounting of how much it costs Shomrei to operate the MESH program. Donations to the MESH Fund are greatly appreciated!

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for Hope) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches.

Volunteer at Shomrei
Shomrei provides 50 meals to MESH on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from September through June. We need volunteers to help prepare and pack the food.

Volunteers are also welcome to help serve food 6 nights a week, Monday through Saturday, 4:30-6:30 pm at the MESH site, 619 Bloomfield Ave, Montclair.
