Meet Aylah Winter, New Assistant Education Director

1511_Winter_015Aylah Winter has been named as one of Shomrei’s new Assistant Education Directors. She, Lily Lucey and Education Director, Heather Brown will run both the JLC (Hebrew School) and Shomrei Preschool.

Since moving to Montclair three years ago Aylah has become involved in the Shomrei community. She has served on the education board for the past two years and worked in the preschool as an assistant teacher. Over the last year she also worked to coordinate travel to Israel for individuals, families and groups with a private tour operator.

Prior to moving to Montclair, Aylah and her family lived in Manhattan where she worked for several Jewish non-profit organizations. Most recently, she worked for American Jewish World Service coordinating their international Alternative Spring Break program for Hillel students around the country. Aylah is passionate about experiential education and its value with young adults. During this time she had the opportunity to travel extensively through central America.

She was born in Israel and has been back to visit many times. Israel has become one of Aylah’s connections to Judaism and a passion in her life. She has been fortunate enough to work for several organizations including the Union for Reform Judaism, Legacy Heritage Fund and Federation of North America which allowed her the opportunity to travel to Israel several times a year and allow her to share this love with others.

Aylah and her husband Daniel have two children. Benjamin graduated from Pre K at Shomrei in June and will be attending Golda Och Academy in West Orange this fall. Gabriella will be in the 3’s class at Shomrei this fall. Daniel is an Attorney with the law firm Ahmuty Demers & McManus. Both Aylah and Daniel grew up in New Jersey and are happy to be back and closer to Family.
