Come and enjoy a unique pre-Chanukah experience!

Shomrei and Bnai Keshet have joined together to bring an extraordinary group of Israeli musicians and performers to our community. This event will be a joyful and fun afternoon for everyone, of all ages. Taste the excitement that this group has been creating in Israel among young Israelis who never before thought that they could connect to their Jewish heritage!

Beit Tefila Yisraeli (Israeli House of Prayer) is a multi-generational and inclusive community of committed and passionate Israelis. They have created a model for a new kind of experimental and creative Jewish-Israeli congregation, unaffiliated with any movement.

In the summer months, the group conducts open Kabbalat Shabbat Services at the Tel Aviv Port Promenade, in front of the Mediterranean Sea at sunset, combining prayer, music, meditation, poetry, singing and dancing. For the months of July and August, they enter the public sphere where they are joined by 700-800 Israelis who gather weekly for this unique spiritual and cultural Shabbat experience in Tel Aviv.

What makes them unique is their blend of tradition and modernity.  Many of the traditional prayers are set to new music composed by an Israeli rock star but you may also hear songs like “It’s a Beautiful World” and “Let it Be” sung in Hebrew.

This event is co-sponsored by Congregation Shomrei Emunah and Bnai Keshet.
