New CAJE is coming

New CAJE is coming to Montclair State for the 2nd time. There are no animals but there is a plethora of stimulating educational sessions from Sunday, July 15 through Wednesday, July 19.

What is New CAJE? The website calls New CAJE ”the premier professional development conference for Jewish educators. Each year 400+ educators gather for four days of learning, entertainment, prayer, and networking opportunities.” Check out the sessions on the website: www.newcaje.org

NewCAJE’s mission is to connect, inspire and affirm all Jewish educators to build a stronger Jewish community. New CAJE grew out of CAJE, an umbrella organization for Jewish educators begun in the 1970s. CAJE stands for Coalition for the Advancement (formerly Alternatives) of Jewish Education and in its heyday enticed as many as 2000 educators to meet together for study and conversation.

Sessions on texts and techniques, study and story, learning and listening run all day with breaks for meals which are included in registration.

Evening program feature some of the rising stars and familiar faces in Jewish entertainment.

I began attending CAJE in the early 1980s with a seven year old child in tow. Over the next 15 years or so, I attended several conferences and learned so much in an exciting, multifaceted environment.

If you are at all involved or interested in Jewish education as a parent, a teacher or a layperson, check it out. Drop in for a day or an evening. Contact the CAJE office: you may be eligible for scholarship help because of living in Metrowest.
