Hanukkah! is full of traditions – lighting the menorah, spinning the dreidle, eating latkes and souvganiyot, and giving gifts. Another tradition at Shomrei Emunah is the annual Hanukkah party with our multli-generational Simcha Band.

Please join us for the party and join the band as well. We are always looking for new (and old) musicians.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • If you are between 10 – 110 years old and can read music, then the Simcha Band is for you.
  • If you are an amateur or professional musician, the Simcha Band is for you.
  • If you play your instrument regularly or have to brush off the cob-webs when you play, please consider joining our special band.

Our conductor, Shomrei member and professional jazz flutist Mark Weinstein, will encourage you and make you feel comfortable no matter what your musical ability.

Simchah Band

If you are a new member of the Shomrei family, we extend a special invitation to join the band. It is a fun way to enhance the celebration of the holiday and to make new friends.

We are scheduling two rehearsals:
Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 6:15pm
Sunday, Dec. 6 at 11:45am.

Both rehearsals are immediately after JLC classes, will include a pizza snack and will last about 1 ½ hours. We hope that you can attend both times but if you can attend only one, we will still welcome you to the band. If you cannot attend any rehearsals but promise to practice, you can join the band and play at the Hanukkah party. Once I hear from you and you tell me which instrument you play, I will send you the music electronically.

Happy Hanukkah and I look forward to making beautiful music with you.
