MESH Report December 28, 2023

Even though Aileen Grossberg, Alex Kent and Gail Stocks hadn’t worked together on a MESH meal before, they were as efficient as a well oiled machine.

Hands flew as conversation flowed while the crew prepared 50 meals of corn pudding, fish sticks, and semi-homemade coleslaw. Accompaniments included two pieces of bread and tartar sauce. A small container of M&Ms, chocolate rolls, and rice pudding added a sweet holiday touch to the meal. A clementine or two and water rounded out a perfect winter comfort meal. We were cleaned up and ready to go by 4:15 when Gail left to deliver the bright green food bags to MESH at its Bloomfield Ave. location.

About MESH:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for Hope) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches.

Shomrei is providing 50 MESH meals on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month.  We need helpers to prepare and pack. Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering to help with food preparation or bagging. Volunteers are also welcomed to help serve at the MESH site, 619 Bloomfield Ave, Montclair- the site of the former Office Restaurant. MESH provides dinner 6 nights a week, Monday through Saturday, 4:30-6:30 pm.
