This week’s MESH meal was prepared by the efficient foursome of Sarita Eisenberg, Lou Hammerman, Gail Stock and Ian Stock with assistance from Ehud Klinger. It took only two hours to prepare and pack the food into bags, which were loaded on carts and brought downstairs to be picked up by MESH staffer, Joe Tyson.
The meal included barbecue chicken (or impossible burgers for the vegetarians), roasted potatoes and coleslaw plus a roll provided by Rhonda Silver and water. For dessert there were cookies (from Rhonda) and candy (from Ian and Gail). Gail and Ian also provided fruit – lots of it, enough for two apples and three bananas for each bag – and a breakfast bar.
This is such a rewarding thing to do. It’s also fun. Please consider signing up to help.

About MESH:
The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches. While in-person service has been discontinued, we are providing hearty, nutritious take-out meals for the hungry. Shomrei’s turn is on Tuesday nights. Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering to help with food preparation or bagging or by making a donation at: shomrei.org/donate.
