MESH Report Oct 11, 2022

Aileen Grossberg and regular volunteer Susan Rosenblatt spent a beautiful sunny afternoon preparing 30 nutritious meals for our MESH guests. While we don’t serve them in person, we took as much care as if we did.

Into the green bag went a hearty helping of baked ziti with sauteed zucchini, mushrooms, and vegan sausage in a rich marinara sauce bound together by shredded mozzarella.

A small salad of tomatoes, cucumbers and bright yellow pepper accompanied the entrée.

A buttered roll rounded off the main course.

A banana , 2 small apples or 2 clementines plus an assortment of cookies made up dessert. The bag was rounded out with a snack bar, bottle of water and utensils.

We hope that our guests enjoyed their dinner as much as we did preparing it.

About MESH:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches. While in-person service has been discontinued, we are providing hearty, nutritious take-out meals for the hungry. Shomrei’s turn is on Tuesday nights. Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering to help with food preparation or bagging or by making a donation at: shomrei.org/donate.
