MESH Report October 10, 2023

Even in such troubling times when our hearts turn toward the East, toward Israel, we are still mindful of our mission to heal the world, to take care of the less fortunate in our own community- Tikkun Olam.

MESH REPORT
This week featured our newbies to MESH and new congregants, Carol and Andy Blau, who agreed to take on the task as Captain/Cook after ably assisting Aileen and Lynne on 09/26/23. They were capably assisted by seasoned MESH volunteers Alex Kent and Susan Rosenblatt, as well as enthusiastic new volunteer Carole Rothman. The meal this week featured mahi mahi baked with butter and herbs over a bed of mixed seasonal vegetables. It was complemented with apples, cheese and crackers, ciabatta rolls, and capped with a swiss roll dessert.  Fifty meals were prepared and packed by the team. Andy and Carol transported the meals to The Office.

We are still in need of volunteers to help prepare our twice monthly 50 meals. People willing to be captains are especially needed.

Please think of volunteering in the kitchen, delivering and serving food at MESH’s site at the Office Restaurant, or making a donation to Shomrei’s MESH fund. Feeding a family for $25. Feed the crowd for $360.

About MESH:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for Hope) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches. While in-person service has been discontinued, we are providing hearty, nutritious take-out meals for the hungry. Shomrei’s turn is on Tuesday nights. Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering to help with food preparation or bagging or by making a donation at: shomrei.org/donatemesh.
