Mesh Cafe Feb 17, 2015

MESH 2/17/2015Report from Captain Lynne Kurzweil:

The outside temperature might have been in the teens but inside at the Shomrei MESH Cafe, the warmth was abundant.  Our twenty guests seemed particularly thankful for the delicious meal of comfort food cooked up by Aileen Grossberg.  We served crudités with hummus and pretzel chips, a hearty vegetable, bean and kale soup (almost everyone requested seconds!) meatloaf that filled the entire synagogue with an enticing aroma, crispy roasted potatoes and green peas and mushrooms.  For dessert there was fruit cup and chocolate chip cookies.  Each guest was handed a large tangerine on the way out.  One guest said he was so stuffed, he hoped it would last for a long while.

Helpers tonight were Bernardo Breziner, Rachel Kantor. Youth volunteers were Siona, Pacey, Avital, Shayna, Noa F., Alex, Noa W., Ben, Sam, and Sierra.  Our MSU student for the semester, Stacey Carreira, already seemed like a pro on her second night.

A few weeks ago, Merrill Silver played the piano during dinner, much to the delight of our guests (and servers!). If anyone has an interest in playing music from 6:30-7:30pm on a Tuesday evening we would love to have you.  Next week, 2/24, our STOM teens are cooking and serving the meal under the direction of John Lasiter.  We need a captain for that night.  Please let us know if you are available.
