MESH Report March 1, 2022

The MESH  team of Grossberg and Kent did it again and in record time. On March 1, head chef Aileen Grossberg and sous chef Alex Kent prepared a sumptuous and nutritious takeaway meal for our MESH guests.

Packed into the bag were the following:

pita bread with a small container of hummus
a container of green salad
a large serving of Tilapia Mediterranean style with tomatoes, olives, mushrooms and zucchini
rice
a crescent roll from Collin, our faithful teen baker
two cookies, one fresh baked by Collin
fresh fruit salad
a bottle of water
a snack bar

The aroma of sautéing onions and garlic filled the kitchen as Aileen and Alex efficiently prepared and packaged the meal to go.

A shout out goes to Brookdale Shoprite which – when asked – extended a discount price on the tilapia and even thanked Chef Aileen for working with MESH.

About MESH:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches. While in-person service has been discontinued, we are providing hearty, nutritious take-out meals for the hungry. Shomrei’s turn is on Tuesday nights. Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering to help with food preparation or bagging or by making a donation at: shomrei.org/donate.
