MESH Report December 12, 2023

Our group of four, including Susan Rosenblatt, Carole Rothman, Carol Ziegler-Blau and Chef Lynne Kurzweil, gathered in the Shomrei kitchen on Tuesday to prepare a hearty, nutritious and tasty meal for 50 MESH guests.

Panko crusted tilapia, semi-homemade cole slaw, potato latkes and applesauce comprised their main course accompanied by a sandwich roll, assorted cookies and a water bottle.  We seem to have found the sweet spot to preparing and packing take away meals for 50 by having four people working together and keeping the meal simple.  Lynne and Carol delivered the meals to 619 Bloomfield Ave where Patricia Diaz, MESH Staff Coordinator, greeted us with open arms and a huge smile.
Patricia also thanked us for some leftover platters she had picked up from Shomrei the previous day.  In an effort to provide additional food, as well as avoiding food waste from the weekend, we let Patricia know when there is food available.  MESH is always happy to accept food that is still in edible condition.
The Signup has been updated with dates through June.  You can access it by going to :  www.shomrei.org/mesh
We look forward to your participation!
Chag Sameach!
Lynne

About MESH:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for Hope) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches.

Shomrei is providing 50 MESH meals on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month.  We need helpers to prepare and pack for December 12 and December 26 and then into 2024! Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering to help with food preparation or bagging or by making a donation at: shomrei.org/donatemesh.

Volunteers are also welcomed to help serve at the MESH site, 619 Bloomfield Ave, Montclair- the site of the former Office Restaurant. MESH provides dinner 6 nights a week, Monday through Saturday, 4:30-6:30 pm.
