MESH Report June 6, 2023

As announced, Chef Fern Heinig prepared her fabulous, tasty and healthy Mediterranean Salmon Feast for 30.  In order to accommodate the 50 guests that have been frequenting the Office location at 619 Bloomfield Ave in Montclair, the Girls Club of Glen Ridge, a new MESH Partner, provided 20 additional meals.

Fern’s Feast included Herb Baked Salmon with Lemon and Tzatziki Sauce, Israeli CousCous Salad with Tomatoes and Cucumbers, Green Bean Salad with Feta, a roll, a colorful cupcake, cookies, fresh fruit salad and a bottle of water.  Shirley Grill, Susan Rosenblatt and Lynne Kurzweil portioned and packed the thirty take away bags.  Lynne delivered the meals to the Office.

Aileen is cooking next week and helpers are needed to assist.  Please sign up at:  www.shomrei.org/mesh

About MESH:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for Hope) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches. While in-person service has been discontinued, we are providing hearty, nutritious take-out meals for the hungry. Shomrei’s turn is on Tuesday nights. Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering to help with food preparation or bagging or by making a donation at: shomrei.org/donate.

  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! to the volunteers who cook, pack, and deliver delicious meals to our community members experiencing hunger. To honor the Mesh cafe volunteers, twenty percent of all sales of my artwork will be donated to the Carol Starr Mesh Cafe at Shomrei.
