MESH Report Mar 14, 2023

The Shomrei MESH A Team was at it again on Tuesday!  Aileen Grossberg, Lynne Kurzweil, Alex Kent, Susan Rosenblatt and Shomrei Teen Jaden shopped, prepped, cooked, packed and delivered a simple, nourishing, filling and, most important, tasty hot meal for 30 MESH guests meeting at the former location of The Office on Bloomfield Avenue.

Main course was a one pan Pasta Bake with rotini, mushroom tomato sauce, corn, peas and lots of cheese.  Ask Aileen for the recipe. (You don’t have to cook the pasta and the options are infinite for swapping out/adding ingredients!).  The meal included Roasted Broccoli, Semi-homemade Cole slaw with green and red  cabbage and carrots, Italian Bread, Banana, Granola Bar, Chocolate Chip Cookies and a Little Debbie Oatmeal Cake for dessert and a water bottle.  The guests are always very appreciative when we drop off the meals, saying “Thanks so much!” as they dig into their dinners.

Next week our friends at Marcel are providing the meals but you can sign up for many open weeks ahead by going to: shomrei.org/mesh

About MESH:

The Carol Starr MESH Cafe at Shomrei (Montclair Emergency Services for Hope) is a cooperative effort between the MESH organization and local synagogues and churches. While in-person service has been discontinued, we are providing hearty, nutritious take-out meals for the hungry. Shomrei’s turn is on Tuesday nights. Please help fulfill this crucial mitzvah by volunteering to help with food preparation or bagging or by making a donation at: shomrei.org/donate.
